SERVE WITH US.

There is something for everyone! Whether serving solo, with your family, or with your organization, Agape Pamoja provides an opportunity to make a difference in the Kansas City community.

+ Serve Day Meals

The saying β€œIf you feed them, they will come” is true. One of the best parts of a serve day with Agape Pamoja is the time spent with new friends over a lunch break. Agape Pamoja provides lunch for all volunteers on a serve day. The best meals come homemade! If you are someone who enjoys cooking and are interested in grilling food on-site or preparing a dish ahead of time, we would love your help. + Education & Life Skills Assistance

Between learning how to navigate the American systems and having English as their second (or something third, fourth or fifth!) language assistance with tutoring, ACT prep, college applications, scholarship search, driving lessons and other life skills will help students achieve their full potential. If you would enjoy workings with students in a smaller group setting & have the aptitude to help them navigate any of these area we would love to hear from you.

+ Skilled Labor

With 20+ properties to manage & new Blessing Houses being added regularly - the need for those with the know-how to get things done is an invaluable asset. If you are skilled in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, painting, roofing, or any other skilled trade we would love to utilize your expertise. Nyumba Repair Team - Nyumba means "house" in Swahili! This team meets maintenance needs in Agape Pamoja's Blessing Houses. With over 24+ properties, there are always items needing attention. By repairing needs in a timely fashion, Agape Pamoja not only helps families save money (from leaky faucets, etc.) but also demonstrates value to the refugee community we serve. The Nyumba Repair Team provides schedule flexibility and opportunities for team members to choose tasks based on their interests and skillsets. Specialized business owners are also welcome to be "on call" team members for times when needs arise within their area of expertise.

+ Serve Days

Approximately 80% of the renovations to get a new Blessing House ready for a family is done through Serve Days. These are days where volunteers, skilled & unskilled alike, are invited serve together for a common cause. Most Serve Days are on Saturdays from 9AM – 2PM and may include anything from demolition, to painting, to landscaping. Check out our Events page to sign up for a Serve Day.

+ Special events

Throughout the year we have many special events including Camp Twende (a day bible camp for K-6th grade), community block parties, summer socials and much more. Keep an eye on our Events page for more information.

+ Agape Pamoja Pals

AP Pals is a 9-12 month commitment between an Agape Pamoja Blessing House family (or members of family) and a family or group interested in representing Agape Pamoja for partnership. AP Representatives make three reaches per month to the family, with at least one reach being in person. Through the AP Pals program, Agape Pamoja serves as a support role to further life skills and development, assesses and encourages spiritual growth, and serves as a communication to AP Leadership for Blessing House maintenance.

+ Agape Pamoja Mentors

AP Mentors is a commitment from August through May (January start-up an option) and involves two refugee students similar in age and a same gender adult interested in providing mentorship. AP Mentors make three reaches per month to each student, with at least one reach being in person. This program greatly benefits students by providing intentional focus on their development and support for where they are in life. AP Mentors will have training specific to their assigned students and have AP Leadership walk with them the first few meetings as well as be readily accessible.
